Do you still pay child support if you sign over rights?
Generally, your obligation to pay child support terminates when your parental rights are terminated and/or the child is adopted by someone else. However, unless there is someone to take your place as a parent, you would not be generally permitted to voluntarily relinquish your parental rights.
Can you stop court ordered child support?
Child support payments must be terminated legally. Depending on the child support order in your case and state requirements, you may be required to petition the court to terminate the court order once the child reaches the age of majority or becomes emancipated.
Can a non custodial parent get out of paying child support?
File a petition to terminate support. Most states will grant a non-custodial parent's petition to temporarily suspend child support if the parent has lost his or her job or has become disabled and is in the process of applying for disability benefits.
