Dexter was indirectly responsible for the deaths of both Rita and Debra; so he knew what he had to do. Dexter had to leave for his son to truly be safe. The only explanation is that Dexter realized he DID STILL have the need to kill and if he moved to Argentina, it wouldn’t stop and Harrison/Hannah would never be free.
