Can I move my army pension?
Once your Armed Forces pension is in payment, it may not be transferred; Armed Forces pensions may not be transferred to an overseas scheme, a Defined Contribution scheme or a private pension scheme. It is possible to transfer them to other Defined Benefit (DB) schemes, including other public sector schemes.
Is gratuity payable in case of death?
The gratuity amount depends upon the tenure of service and last drawn salary. As per the Gratuity Act, the gratuity is payable up to the date of death irrespective of whether five-years period was completed or not.
Is gratuity taxable in case of death?
Benefit amount received by the nominee or the legal heir in case of death of the employee is not taxable. However, if the gratuity amount becomes due or is paid before the death of the employee, it is taxable under the head “Income from other sources” and they have to disclose the gratuity amount while filing ITR.
