Vicinage is a term specific to New Jersey. The New Jersey Superior Courts, which are the state’s trial courts, are grouped into 15 smaller vicinages. The legal definition of a vicinage is “The area where a crime was committed, a trial is being held, or the community from which jurors are drawn.”
