Can you purchase a home while going through a divorce?
Buying a home while legally married but separated from your former spouse is certainly possible, but there's some extra documentation needed and things to be aware of. First, your lender is going to require your legal separation agreement. If you have a property settlement agreement, they'll need that as well.
Can I change the locks to keep my husband out?
If the property is jointly owned then you cannot change the locks without the agreement of the other person. Both of you have a right to access and to occupy the property. If only one of you owns the property then the owner is entitled to change the locks.
Can you move out of state before divorce is final?
If you move out of state before the divorce is filed or while the case is pending, you can still handle the case in a California court if your spouse continues to meet the residency requirements. If you do move, you may still have to return to California to handle your case.
Can a woman kick a man out of the house?
